This update isn't particularly interesting for parkour, because of very low amount of blocks that could be used (I only used cake, iron bars, trapdoors and ladders), chests and fences are full blocks so they don't serve any purpose and cobble walls, heads, cocoa beans and anvils etc do not exist. There is a really annoying shift glitch that stays for full 3 seconds (if you release movement key then release shift, you'll still fall off the block unless you wait for 3 seconds between releasing both keys) so I had to use backwall setups. The way to counteract this is to aim a bit diagonal and do a tap sideways. The reason for this akwardly long shift glitch is probably because 0,005 speed threshold hasn't been implented yet. There is also no teleport commands so you have to rely on manual setup. Even if you used single player commands (/tele) you would have to type in the numbers manually since you couldn't paste it in or go back to previous message and I don't think there's an angle perimeter on that command. F3 menu is a bit weird as well, Y axis stays at eye level instead of feet level, so it's 1,62 blocks higher than it would've been in modern versions. When you move around and stand still, your coordinates will still change slowly on each decimal point, which is probably the reason of shift glitch being that long(no 0,005 speed threshold). There is also no angle in F3, so you have to rely on looking for pixels. If you asked me to compare old 1.8 to release 1.8.9, I would say not much has changed. The only change was adding sprint key and every other movement is still the same as old 1.8 (excluding the slow coordinate standing and lack of angle in f3), and of course there's more blocks and hitboxes.
