View the full description for info and sources. Takahashi got his start as a professional animator at Tatsunoko Production in1966 (which he left in 1975). He has also frequently worked with studios Sunrise and Pierrot, also doing directing and storyboarding work. He passed away in 2007 at the age of 66. Takahashi came to my attention for his ambitious episodes of Urusei Yatsura, which he boarded, eventually ADd, and key animated himself (with KA assistance only from frequent collaborator Naoko Yamamoto). Yamamoto (who had a sort of apprentice role under him) also worked with him on A-ko (which Takahashi joined to assist her) and the Bismark episodes in this video. Takahashi’s animation stands out with its graphic, blobby effects, cute yet playful character acting, and dramatic pans and rotations using animated backgrounds.
