Originally an unaccompanied song (徒歌) that was sung among troops, the original form of this piece took shape when it was performed to celebrate the military success of the Prince of Qín (秦王), Lǐ Shì-mín (李世民) against the forces of Liú Wǔ-zhōu (劉武周). After the prince became Emperor Tài-zōng (唐太宗), he ordered his minister of ceremonies Lǚ Cái (呂才) to rearrange the music, his chancellor Wèi Zhēng (魏徵) and other officials to compose new lyrics, and the Emperor himself was personally involved in choreographic design. The finished work was known as Dance of the Seven Virtues (七德舞). It was performed during banquets at court and excerpts were adopted for use in imperial ceremonies. Later, Emperor Xuán-zōng (唐玄宗) used this piece as the basis of his own composition - Small Music of Triumph (小破陣樂). There are multiple surviving scores of this piece covering all of the major instrumental categories. These include the pípá (琵琶; 4-string lute) score from the Sango-yōroku (三五要錄), the zhēng (箏; 13-string zither) score from the Jinchi-yōroku (仁智要錄), plus others for the winds and percussion instruments. Notably, the earliest score was found in the Gogen-fu (五絃譜; "Gogen" refers to the 5-string pípá), but its melodic structure is quite different when compared to the other scores, which suggest changes that may have occurred during the impartation and transmission of this music. 《秦王破陣樂》（或簡稱《破陣樂》）乃唐代大型舞樂，原先為軍旅所傳唱之徒歌，後來為歌頌秦王李世民（唐太宗）伐劉武周之功績，遂以舊樂入新詞成《破陣樂》之原型。至太宗即帝位後，命太常丞呂才協律、魏徵等製新曲詞，又親製『破陣舞圖』，命呂才教樂工傳習之，成《七德舞》，於宴會時演出，及後亦摘篇用於祭祠。 简介又双叒叕一次过长，完整版简介见于评论区。
