【Live】英国Fusion/前卫摇滚Soft Works - Baja Prog Mexicali (Live)

Youtube One of two strong headliners. With guitarist Alan Holdsworth's name prominently on the billboards, the former Soft Machine band appeared on stage ready for a grand concert. Many of us knew little, after what we had seen in the two previous concerts. Softworks sounded soft, they offered a technical and careful jazz, without fanfare or accelerated solos. They were subtle and their execution splendid. But nothing less could be expected of them. The most prominent, for me, was Elton Dean (I think he really is the star of this group and the album they released). With the sax he was impeccable, and provided some good keyboards. John Marshall did not disappoint with his way of playing drums, a jazz technique few can beat. Hugh Hopper took a back seat, at least in his arrangement on stage. All the musicians formed a semicircle. But he also did his part. And Holdsworth sounded like angels. His unmistakable way of playing the guitar, the way of using unusual effects to bring out a unique sound to the instrument ... He was methodical and correct, sometimes withdrawing from the stage when a partner performed a solo. It was one of the best performances of the festival, although we couldn't expect less from these great instrumentalists. Otherwise it would have been a catastrophe.
